SHACK15 hosts SF's most exciting Hackathon on 'AI For Good'

On March 25th and 26th 2023, SHACK15 hosted an exhilarating 24hr hackathon, that brought together some of the smartest minds from around the country (people flew in from Florida, NYC and even Vancouver to participate!) to create some incredible ideas based on Chat GPT-4's latest API release. The event was co-hosted by Cerebral Valley, Internet Activism and OpenAI.

Cerebral Valley is a community for AI builders and founders based in San Francisco. Their mission is to create a serendipitous environment to generate creativity, connection, and the sharing of knowledge. InternetActivism.org is an incredible international non-profit that develops digital humanitarian tools, and whose work ranges from helping people displaced during wars, and pandemics, to natural disasters. During the hackathon, the developers also had 1:1 mentorship from Open AI's Rohan Calum & Zack Kass (Head of GMT).

The hackathon kicked off at 10am on Saturday, and saw it end 10am on Sunday, after which the best teams were selected to present on stage in front of a panel of judges, who voted on the best projects.

The winner announced was Gptcha, a pretty amazing phone fraud detection tool that will answer your phone for you and have a full conversation with the other side to detect fraud. The winning team was awarded $10,000 cash + $10,000 OpenAI credits, $5000 Anthropic credits and $1000 pinecone credits. Congratulations to the winners!
